Youth Protection
Youth Protection
Youth safety is top priority in Pack 14. As you become more familiar with the Pack you may hear the term YPT. This stands for Youth Protection Training. Youth Protection Training is required for all adult leaders, and covers a variety of measures designed to keep your scouts safe. In addition to YPT, all adult leaders are finger printed, receive a background check, and complete the Mandated Reporter Training required by California for all youth serving organizations. Below are some terms you may hear from the YPT course.
No One on One Contact: One-on-one contact between adult leaders and youth members is prohibited both inside and outside of Scouting
Two Deep Leadership: Two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required at all Scouting activities, including all meetings. There must be a registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over in every unit serving females. A registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over must be present for any activity involving female youth.
Electronic Communication: Private online communications (texting, phone calls, chat, IM, etc.) must include another registered leader or parent.
